Absolutely disappointing. The burger was barely a smear of meat paste and had NO taste whatsoever. Fries and rings were okay though. The raspberry shake tasted flavored with raspberry but didn't have any fruit in it at all; more of a vanilla shake and very thin drink with a straw, not a spoon. The seating was filthy and not just 'messy child before me' dirty, but 'sticky and filthy been partying for a long time' messy. The service was so-so; no real smiles or interest, just running people through the long line. Also, expensive for less than mediocre fast food. I tried this place because of all the raves and shouldn't have; I'll go back to Quick N Tasty!

I came here for lunch with my realtor as we're buying a property in Bear Lake during summer 2013. We like the decor and service (i.e. very simple casual burger place). We ordered a couple of burgers, fries and fish&chips. The burgers are good (juicy) but nothing really spectacular, we added bacon as my son loved bacon. We requested fries sauce that helped with the taste of the meal. We closed our lunch with raspberry shake... this one is truly delicious, we loved it

Ask for the Ryan Sundae Special... even though it's not on the menu, they'll know what you're talking about. If you like chocolate and are in the mood for a shake, you won't be disappointed. Hot fudge, banana and brownie.... Amaaaaazing!

Pulled pork burrito was ok. I asked if it was like cafe rio and he said kinda. It was decent size, but just not at all Mexican. I know Cafe Rio isn't authentic, but at least it tastes good. This one just struggled with life. I'll maybe come back.

After trying to get a raspberry shake from quick n tasty across the street (they were far from quick), we tried labeau's and were not disappointed. If you want quick service and a delicious raspberry shake, go here! We weren't quite as satisfied with their onion rings (they were a touch too salty), but I wouldn't mind trying other stuff there because I've heard the food is good too.

Don't go anywhere else in Bear Lake. If you decide to pass LaBeau's by because of the long lines, it's a shame. There is a reason the lines are always so long: good food and the best raspberry shakes. Just the right amount of raspberries and not too sweet and the ORIGINAL raspberry shake in town. Don't believe the other businesses. If you're looking for a candy shake, the oreo is great. But, raspberry oreo is the best :) Food is good. I'm not a huge burger lover but I do really enjoy the bacon burger. The fries are great but the onion rings are my favorite! I know the back story behind the place which makes it even better to go their. Renee LaBeau has owned it for over 30 years by herself and is now in her 80's. She's still there everyday making sure things run smoothly. I love stories like that.

Tried raspberry shakes from four places on the street and this was probably a close second to Merlin's, if you want the all-natural, albeit less flavorful experience. If you want something a bit sweeter then Zipz is good. The lines can be ridiculously long. I guess it's the most famous place. Didn't try the food. Staff was friendly and service was far quicker than Quick N Tasty across the street, and much tastier too. (Never go to Quick N Tasty!)

We have gone there several times every year during Raspberry Days for that past 25+ years, and we absolutely LOVE the place!

Our big group did a raspberry shake contest. Hands down this has the best raspberry shake in town. Very high quality ice cream and great flavors. Burgers and fries are very good. FYI... If you really just care about raspberry then go next door to hometown drive in. It's a strong flavor but more like a smoothie than creamy shake. Nobody in our party thought it was much like a shake.

Great shake! Perfect amount of fillings ... Brownie + cookie dough = perfection :)

We stopped here for lunch. I had a cheeseburger, fries with yummy sauce and a raspberry shake. My honey had a chicken sandwich. The food was quite good, the fries and sauce were great. The shake was wonderful. They have about 30 different shake flavors, but I couldn't resist famous raspberry. Next time: key lime! The service was excellent. They weren't busy. Thanks, guys.

Fish Haven, Idaho isn't really the most exciting place in the world. However, the sheer beauty of its surrounding including the pristine Bear Lake, yellow aspen tries and Cache mountain ranges over compensates the lack of big city excitement. Not to mention, it has the best raspberry shake I've ever had. LaBeau makes just the best of that with locally grown and harvested raspberries. Smooth, thick, sweet, raspberry-tartness. It's especially worthy after a long run in those mountain ranges. Highly recommended.

I had the raspberry shake everyone raves about. I guess it tasted like a raspberry shake to me. Apparently i have heard it's the best as it's not "as sweet" as the others. I guess it just depends how you like them.

Love, love, love LaBeau's. A family tradition! They are the only place that uses the real fresh raspberries from Bear Lake in their shakes. Their Turkey Avocado Sandwich is heaven! Until next year..

This review is only for raspberry shakes. Three of us did a side-by-side taste test of raspberry shakes on the main drag oh Garden City. This was our 1st choice followed closely by LeBeau's and a verrrry distant 3rd to Hometown. It was the only way to really rate them but could not give 5stars because they all used soft serve and not REAL ice cream.

    (4)
  • Ela A.

I have only ever had their shakes, so just know my 5 stars only extends to that. Quality ice cream! Fresh ingredients! Large portions, one shake is plenty big for two people! Service with a smile! It's a must if you are in the Garden City or Bear Lake area!

On my recent visit to Bear Lake, "sample Raspberry shakes" was high on the list of things I wanted (needed) to do. I did some research, more than is probably necessary, but I wanted to get the best. I tried 3 places and sadly, despite my high hopes, LaBeaus was my least favorite shake. Ordering was quick, employees were friendly, and my shake was out quick! The shake was massive - in a huge cup, filled over the top - definitely big enough to share. The shake base was good, a little icy, though. The raspberry flavor was good, but not that strong, more like a faint taste of fresh raspberry instead of that fresh burst of flavor I was expecting. This was the first shake I tried and I was a little underwhelmed, figured the hype was just too much and the shakes, across the board, wouldn't live up. I only ate 1/4 of the shake, both because it was huge and because it just wasn't that amazing, keeping me wanting more.

Labeau's is a classic Bear Lake establishment. You can't go to Bear Lake and not stop at Labeau's. They are known for their shakes and malts, so don't leave without trying one. Their Raspberry shakes are fantastic, very flavorful, and always more than enough. It's the perfect size for two people to share. Don't forget to try their other flavors. I think they make one of the best chocolate malts I've ever eaten. I never leave without getting one. They make their chocolate malts with real vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup, the way it's supposed to be made. They are consistent with taste every time I go here, and I can't wait to get another.

We were starving after boating (along with several other large groups). They prepared all our orders correctly and fairly quickly. Great onion rings, fry sauce, grilled cheese and root beer float. Others liked their corn dogs, cheeseburgers, fries and raspberry shakes. There are several picnic tables outside. One tiny bathroom. Some of the employees weren't nice. $80 for eight meals.

Keep driving - to Quick and Tasty (100 ft down the street) Ended up trying this place after reading on Yelp about how it was the best in town. I tried Labeau's on my yearly trip to this area and was disappointed. The place was dirty, onion rings were under cooked, the burger was bland, shakes were so-so, and was expensive (over $50 for 4 people). In the many years of stopping in Garden City I've always hit up Quick and Tasty and been thoroughly satisfied. I would recommend you drive another 100 ft and stop at Quick and Tasty instead.

Going to La Beau's for raspberry shakes is a must if you are in the area. I've tried the shakes from all the local places and this is hands down the best. Worth the wait and you'll love every bite!

RASPBERRY SHAKE, RASPBERRY SHAKE, RASPBERRY SHAKE!!!! Did I mention you should try the Raspberry Shake?! Ok so I'm from Chicago. Someone from SLC heard we'd be driving thru Bear Lake, and they said "You absolutely HAVE to stop at Labeau's to try the raspberry shake!". So, we did. And i can tell you that we were not disappointed. We actually also got food. But that wasn't nearly as exciting as the shake. We got a few burgers and fries. The burgers were delicious! The fries were a bust - pretty boring and not-tastey. But who cares about that food when you could be sucking down a delicious raspberry shake? Ok in addition to the food, they've got an adorable little outdoor area to sit and eat (code for drink shakes), and people watch. The LINE to order at this place was like 25 people deep on the day we stopped! It was nuts. So clearly, this is a neighborhood fave.

  • Oscar O.

I got a cheesesteak, fries, and a shake and was pleased with my experience. I am from Philadelphia so I am generally disappointed when I order a philly out west, but this one is solid. Also enjoyed the patio in the back. With the lack of options in garden city this place is a must.

The best place in Bear Lake. The food is great and well prepared for being insanely busy; the fries are especially delicious and while the fresh Raspberry shakes are the best in this small town--with its subtle, non artificial taste-- the unknown Sunday Special Shake that is not on the menu is the best shake I have ever had. Anywhere. There are a lot of places in Bear Lake that say they have the "famous Raspberry shake", but anyone familiar with Bear Lake knows LaBeau's is the best and only place to eat while in town.

Ah, summer afternoons in Bear Lake! Not a chain franchise in sight. Labeau's is the ultimate simple summer spot. Get a hot dog (apparently, a lot of places grill their hot dogs in UT...fantastic) and one pf their 30-something milkshake flavors and thank me when you get home.
